Higher Degree by Research Application Portal

The China Scholarship Council (CSC), in partnership with The University of Western Australia (UWA), is offering a limited number of PhD Research Scholarships in 2026 for outstanding applicants from the People’s Republic of China who wish to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) at UWA.

• UWA will provide a Tuition Fee Scholarship covering the cost of course tuition.
• CSC will offer a scholarship package that includes a living allowance, return airfare, and overseas student health insurance.

Applicants must:

• meet the PhD course admission requirements (Handbook);
• completed or on track to complete in June 2026, a Masters degree in China with a weighted mark of approximately 85 and above;
• meet the English language requirement, including submission of valid test scores;
• demonstrate that their proposed research aligns with academic priority areas identified by both CSC and UWA;
• provide written confirmation of supervision from an academic staff member at UWA.

Note:

• A Bachelors' degree completed in China does not meet admission requirement for the PhD at UWA.
• Incomplete applications or those missing any of the required documentation by the scholarship deadline will not be considered.
• Applications must not be submitted prior to the opening date.

31 Jan 2026: Deadline to apply for admission to UWA.

• You must submit all required documents by this date. 
• Late or incomplete applications will not be accepted.

Before 31 March 2026: UWA will send offer letters to successful applicants. You will need this letter to apply for the CSC scholarship.

• If your home university needs the offer letter earlier, please mention this in your application.

31 March 2026: UWA will send a list of selected candidates to the CSC.

May - June 2026: CSC will review the applications and send UWA a list of scholarship winners. 

• You will likely know the result of your application by 30 June 2026.

From July 2026: Students who receive the scholarship will begin their PhD studies at UWA.
