The McNamara Family have donated funds to The University of Western Australia to establish the Keiran McNamara World Heritage PhD Top Up Scholarship in honour of Keiran McNamara, former Director General of the Department of Environment and Conservation. The scholarship aims to further knowledge and expertise relevant to the conservation and management of the natural values of World Heritage areas in Western Australia by attracting the next generation of outstanding intellects to this state.

Keiran McNamara World Heritage PhD Top Up Scholarships are offered across all five Western Australian universities to outstanding students who wish to undertake high quality PhD research related to identifying, managing and conservation of World Heritage areas in Western Australia.

The scholarship is offered as a 'top-up' scholarship and an operating allowance for research expenses, including research related travel.

All applicants for the Keiran McNamara World Heritage PhD Top Up Scholarships must contact potential supervisors before submitting their application.

•Have a bachelor’s degree of First Class Honours standard or equivalent; and

•Intend to undertake research relating to identifying, managing and the conservation of World Heritage areas in Western Australia.
