The University Postgraduate Award may be awarded to a domestic HDR applicant whose tertiary performance has been affected by exceptional personal circumstances. 

The exceptional personal circumstances provision allows the HDR Scholarship Committee to award a scholarship to an applicant who may otherwise be ranked too low in the order of the merit list to be recommended for a scholarship (ie. less than First Class). 

Exceptional circumstances may include illness, chronic medical conditions, disability, caring or family responsibilities, death or serious illness of close family or friends, traumatic events, family breakdown and other significant factors which have adversely affected the academic result of the qualifying degree. 

• meet the requirements for entry to the nominated course;
• enrolling as a full-time and internal domestic student;
• meet eligibility criteria as listed in the scholarship conditions.

For confidential treatment of supporting documentation (eg. certificate, short statement outlining the grounds for special consideration should be emailed to scholarship-grs@uwa.edu.au.   

There is no separate application form.
