| Description | YouthCARE is a leading community-service organisation in Western Australia, supporting the social, emotional and spiritual well-being of our communities. For over 50 years, YouthCARE has worked with a strong commitment to evidence-based practice and meaningful community impact, collaborating with schools, sporting clubs, and communities to empower generations to flourish by feeling connected, supported and valued.
This PhD scholarship offers a unique opportunity to generate rigorous, real-world evidence on the impact of school-based chaplaincy services across Western Australia. The research collaboration between UWA and YouthCARE may explore areas such as longitudinal outcomes in student wellbeing, engagement, attendance, and academic progress, as well as the economic value of chaplaincy programs for schools and the broader community. It may also examine how chaplaincy supports student emotional wellbeing and help-seeking behaviours, strengthens parent engagement and family support networks, and contributes to teacher and staff wellbeing. In addition, the project may investigate the role of chaplaincy in fostering community partnerships and referral pathways, enhancing access to external supports and promoting connected, resilient school communities. |
