Higher Degree by Research Application Portal

Margaret Horsfall and Muriel Horsfall bequeathed funds to The University of Western Australia in memory of their sister Miss Constance Horsfall to provide a scholarship to support Higher Degree by Research candidates in the field of Education.

This scholarship is provided to encourage and assist domestic candidates to enrol in and complete a Higher Degree by Research (HDR) with a research focus in any field of education in the Graduate School of Education.

Citizenship: domestic applicants only

Degree types: Doctor of Education (30810)

Attendance type: full-time or part-time (if primary award is approved on a part-time basis)

Enrolment type: currently enrolled and the research proposal has been accepted by the Graduate Research School.

The supplementary stipend scholarship (support type 1) will be awarded to a candidate who is the recipient of a RTP or equivalent primary stipend.

The completion scholarship (support type 3) will be awarded to a candidate who submits an examinable thesis within 3.0 years (FTE) - for the purpose of writing and submitting publishable article/s to (a relevant high quality academic journal) and presenting research findings to (an academic conference).

Applicants must apply as outlined on the relevant UWA website by the advertised closing date.

Applicants must:

- demonstrate a clear intent to undertake research in education within the Graduate School of Education,

- had their research proposal approved by the Graduate Research School, and

- submit an outline of no more than 200 words on how the award will benefit their research.

The scholarship will be awarded through a competitive selection process to the highest ranked eligible applicant based on academic achievement in the coursework component of the EdD and whose research proposal has been accepted by the Graduate Research School within the stipulated timeframe and who is not already in receipt of a similar award.

The Constance Horsfall Scholarship in any form, may only be held once by a candidate.
