| Title | Research scholarship for Circular Critical-Minerals Recovery and Clean Water Technologies |
|---|---|
| Description | We are offering one fully funded PhD scholarships within the research program “Electrochemical Pathways for Circular Critical-Minerals Recovery and Clean Water Technologies”, supported by the Energy & Resources Group at the University of Western Australia (UWA). Our aim is to advance next-generation catalytic systems and electrochemical processes to recover valuable metals and treat complex industrial waste streams—particularly those arising from mining, metallurgical refining, and battery manufacturing. The project focuses on developing dynamic liquid-metal-based catalysts, alloy interfaces, and cell architectures to achieve highly selective metal extraction, pollutant removal, and transformation of contaminants into high-value materials. Core approaches include nanomaterials synthesis, electrochemical testing, catalyst engineering, alloy thermodynamics, and wastewater characterization. Experience or strong interest in electrochemistry, materials science, chemical engineering, or environmental engineering is desirable. We especially welcome candidates who are excited to work as part of a large, interdisciplinary team to develop transformative circular-economy technologies for metal recovery and sustainable water treatment. |
