The SPARRC PhD Scholarship in Suicide Prevention and Aftercare is available to encourage and assist a PhD candidate to undertake their PhD research within the UWA Suicide Prevention and Resilience Research Centre (SPARRC).

This scholarship is dedicated to improving the delivery of both private and public mental health care, with the ultimate goal of reducing suicide rates in the community. A particular focus will be placed on strengthening post-discharge support from psychiatric settings, while fostering collaboration with local services to enhance continuity and quality of care. Research will involve a focus on exploring pathways for young people and adults post-discharge, including qualitative and quantitative analysis.

Eligibility

Applicants must:

  •  demonstrate a clear intent to undertake research within the scholarship's purpose,
  • meet the admission requirement to the PhD course with an excellent academic background.

This scholarship will be awarded through a competitive selection process to the highest ranked eligible applicant —based on academic merit.

This scholarship will commence in 2026.
