Description | Ophthalmic health literacy is key in determining an individual’s eye health outcomes. Studies have shown that factors such as socioeconomic status, education, age, and geographic location influence health literacy levels. Compared to metropolitan areas, in regional Western Australia, ophthalmic health literacy iscompounded by access and clarification of eyecare information. This PhD project aims developt a tailored set of inverventional tools to improve ophthalmic health literacy in Western Australia, with a specific focus on at-risk population groups. The candidate will assess ophthalmic health literacy in both Western Australia communities and eye health practitioners before and after delivering these materials with project partner Sight For All. The research will be conducted at The University of Western Australia, surrounding community eye care practices and there may be an opportunity to undertake a rural component for candidates who seek to work across WA in regional settings. |
