Project description

Larger Research Program: UWA is leading a research collaboration to address employer identified gaps in relation to health graduates’ soft skills (e.g. grit, communication and flexibility) and address challenges impacting staff retention (e.g. burnout), whilst promoting wellbeing, engagement and intent-to-stay. In turn, we anticipate that the resulting improvements in service provision, including greater compassion, responsiveness and continuity, will lead to better health outcomes for patients and their caregivers. The larger research program involves co-designing and evaluating an evidence-based Educational Program , that will be organised according to the four teachable skill sets outlined in the Dare to Lead™ Framework and will consist of two phases.

Project 1: This project is focused on the first phase, where students studying a health degree at one of the partner universities will be supported during their final two years of study through Embedded Curriculum.

Location: This community-based project will be part of a national research program that is being led by UWA. Although the core research team are based in Perth (primarily at UWA), there would be flexibility for the successful PhD candidate to be based in another Australian location.
