TitlePhD Project: Expression of Li-Cs-Ta pegmatites in the Critical Zone
SupervisorDr Tony Kemp
Research areaEarth Sciences
Project description

This PhD research project explores how Li-Cs-Ta pegmatites interact with the critical zone during weathering, aiming to develop fertility indicators and understand element redistribution in weathering profiles. The research promises significant contributions to critical mineral exploration and processing.

Research Questions:

1. How do LCT pegmatites chemically and mineralogically manifest in regolith?

2.What is the extent of element dispersion, and how is lithium redistributed?

3. How resistant are ‘resistate’ phases, and how are their chemical signatures transferred to regolith?
